Reducing blood pressure with a twist?

I take medication for high blood pressure and it is having little effect. Whilst accidentally cutting myself shaving i pondered the comaparisons...Being from a mechanical background, if a hydraulic hose has too much pressure, standard practice is to "crack" a fitting and bleed some oil to reduce pressure. My question from a medical viewpoint...
Can i reduce blood pressure by cracking a blood vessel/vein etc in the same way i can reduce hydraulic oil pressure? If not, why not?
Answer:
NO, but having extremely high blood pressure can actually cause blood vessels to rupture on their own and cause a stroke. There are many types of BP meds offered and just because one or two aren't working doesn't mean there aren't other options. You must speak with your prescribing doctor for other medication choices.
What you should be asking is whether donating blood will lower your blood pressure.Try a Yahoo search for "donating blood" (OR "blood donors") + "high blood pressure" and see what you get.
You don't releave the pressure by cracking a vein...you'll only make it worse. There is a root cause for your High BP, find and control that. And if your meds aren't helping you might need a higher dose or a different kind. I speak from experience 211/109 down to 132/78 once the right meds were found.
This is from an article written by a researcher:It is very easy to understand how donating blood, or bloodletting, reduces your cholesterol and blood pressure levels. But, it is temporary. Your body will increase the water in your blood in a couple days, pushing the blood pressure up near the previous level. Your cholesterol level will climb back to the previous level in about 10 days. So, all in all, you only get about a week's relief from your high risk of heart attack and stroke. That leads to the question of frequency. How often can you donate a liter of blood?
your bp meds are acting as an agent to reduce the strain on your vessels and veins. There are ways you can cut bp down besides or in addition to meds. You can change your dietary intake- less salt, less fat, lower cholesterol, etc. You can exercise daily- 30 minutes of cardio a day does wonder. Then do some toning and strength exercises. Stress less. you may be surprised by the amount of pressure stress does to your body. I have seen patients stroke out or attain hemorrhaging to the brain all becuase they are unders stress. High bp can cause grave effects. Whatever you choose to do, do it with your doc's full knowledge. If he doesn't seem attentive enough or he is too hurried to treat you well find a new doctor. If you only go to a general practioner who are all mostly good but you don't go to a cardiologist than go see a cardio.
Whatever you do don't diasgnosis yourself and do your own thing. I am not saying you will and it is good that you are trying to understand how the body works. Just do all this under care of your physician.
