Road rash...?

I recently fell off my bike and got a serious case of road rash on both my knees, shoulder and face. What are some ways to keep it from scarring..Should I put Band-Aides on it?
Answer:
No band aids. The adhesive will irritate the rash.
.
There are two methods of wound healing that most doctors embrace: The "wet method" and "dry method". Dry method means keep the rash clean, perhaps cover with non-stick gauze to keep bacteria out (no heavy air-excluding bandage) and let it heal by itself. If it doesn't get infected, it will scab. The scabs will fall off and you will either have a scar or not.The "Wet Method" is to keep the rash clean, and use an antibiotic to prevent infection. Clean and reapply twice daily.
Cover with non-stick gauze. If healing is coming along nicely and danger of infection is past, keep the area moist with a cream to prevent scarring. However, since the road rash is on your face also, you want to make sure you have no scarring there, so If I were you, I would spend the money and see a doctor -or even a dermatologist (specializes in skin) to get specific instructions.A note about neosporin: A dermatogist once told me (when neosporin didn't help my skin condition but made it worse) that I was allergic to neosporin and 80% of the population becomes allergic to it after they have used it once or twice.
He switch me to straight bacitracin, which cleared it up.
So if you're going to try just neosporin or go the "triple antibiotic route" (which contains neosporin), be watchful whether you are (or become) sensitive to it.
Go see your doctor. Band Aid will protect the skin but won't stop the scarring. The doctor might have to do something to lessen the appearance of the scar.
Clean it very well with antibacterial soap. Neosporin will help it heal much faster. Cover it with something called Telfa pads (that's the brand name). Telfa pads are like gauze pads that won't stick into the wound. Gauze pads will stick into the road rash and hurt to take off. Then you can tape the Telfa down on the outside with medical tape. Keep the rash covered as much as you can in the first few days. Once it stops oozing, uncover and let nature takes it course.
neosporin for sure. but let it air out every now and then, but dont let it crack or dry out. i use neosporin before i go to bed too. with guaze lightly taped over it.
You need to wash it out and clean it. Then put Neosporin on it.. Cover it with band aids . It would help protect it. But you should take off the band aids in about 2 days after you put them on. Keep applying Neosporin every other day.
I like to wash it well, coat it with something like a Neosporin type product, Keep it open, as long as it isn't dripping or bleeding, allowing it to scab over. Keep it clean, let it heal, and don't pick at the scabs.
no dont put badaides on them. when you take them off there is a possibility that you will tear the sca with it and it may hurt. try putting some neosporine on it that cream helps with scarring. see if you can go to a dr. he can help you dress the wound with something that wont hurt when you take it off. i hope that this helps you.
No band aids, you want the wounds to dry out. If there's any sign of redness, use neosporin. When the sores are just about healed, start with Mederma.Ihope you heal up fast!
Clean the area and put ointment on it everyday after it is healed then put coca butter on it everyday till the scares are gone.
you can't really keep it 4rm scarring but... there r cremes 4 getting rid of scars
