Replacement Knee Surgery?

I have to have the surgery because I'm in sooo much pain - no carteledge in BOTH knees. Any experience with double surgery? How long for hospital, nursing home, recovery, etc.
I'm really scared about the pain and the final outcome.
Answer:
I don't know about having both knees done at once. My wife had one knee done and the other done ten months later. After the first knee she was back at work in a month and after the second only three weeks. The pain after wards, excluding the first ten days or so, is nothing compared to the previous walking around grinding bone on bone pain. She says if she had known how much better she would feel she would have had the surgery done much sooner. We did have the advantage of an RN in the family to help with aftercare for a few days and my wife was highly motivated. Any good hospital will keep your pain to a minimum after wards as long as you are doing your physical therapy and not just laying around. She had the Depuy brand knee appliances implanted and is very happy with them and the results.http://www.kneereplacement.com/depuy/ind...
My mum has not long come out of hospital from having one of her knees replaced and hasn't looked back since and says its the best thing she has done. One thing I would like to suggest to you though is, there is a chance you can get a bone infection (mum didn't) therefore she was informed to only have one knee done at a time because of this. Plus you will find if you get the worse knee done first, the other one won't seem to be as bad, because its the way you walk while you have a crook knee is why the other one hurts just as much. So get one done first then see how it goes before getting the other one done. Cheers and good luck.
The price of knee replacement surgery is very low in India as compared to USA, UK and Canada. My cousin also got her hip replacement surgery in India through the Fly2india4health Consultants .She is more than very happy with the results. She is totally pain free now. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this Fly2india4health Consultants.
Fly2india4health Consultants is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as all joint surgery is not covered by insurance in USA or by NHS in the UK. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.http://www.fly2india4health.com...
Hope this helps.
