Scrapes on knee and elbow..Need Help Please?

So today I fell off a razor scooter from going too fast. My knee got scrapped and it is now a little swollen..anyone know why? Can it be bruised? I also got scrapped on my elbow and why is the skin in that area white? I've been changing the gauze and applying Neosporin frequently but when I try to give it some air, it stings-feels like its drying up and needs moisture.Someone please help! Also, how long till it will start to scab up?TIA!
Answer:
It will sting. Keep the dressing on there, change maybe 2x's a day unless it oozing yucky stuff, then gently clean it w/ H20 and reapply the antibiotic ointment. It will scab over when its ready. At that time you can take off the bandage.
yeah i'm sure your knee is bruised... just make sure the knee cap isn't busted or something. the skin on your elbow is very thin and there isn't muscle or fat under there, so that may be bone. sorry but it will take a very long time to scab up since it's on an area that will be moving alot and the skin expanding and contracting
It may take a week or 2 for scabbing to encircle all the abrased areas. I use betadine dsisinfectant. It effectively disinfects the wounded area and dries it so scabs can form faster.
Try vaseline for moisture, it works very well. Elbows usually do turn a whitish color after a scrape, not sure why, they just do. The impact to your knee area is enough alone to cause swelling. You may need an xray if it worsens to make certain no major damage has occured, all the best and hope you feel better.
